Yes I did, but the cutoff frequency is 500Hz.

Others may be able to chip in, but I'd almost say at your likely levels, you could load thr 805 down to 400Hz and be OK. Maybe use a 299 diaphragm.

I've 805s if you wanted to try, BUT you'd need to get them to and from Sydney, being tar filled, heavy too!

Many thanks for the offer, but I may have to postpone this for a while. A set of 311's that I had my eye on just sold for $1197....then you have to add shipping on top of that!
The combo with the drivers is likely to be the best part of $2000....a bit steep for me at the moment.

Can often be bought cheaper than the 311, but not as common.

Hate to go negative here, but I dunno , I just don't see any of these big radials ( sectorals ) offering solid performance down to 400hz ( without a bit of EQ ) .

Here's ( a blowup of the FR for ) the 329a , which has the same 220 hz flare rate as the 311-90 .



Maybe that @ 10db an octave rolloff below 600hz works for the OP and his 400 hz Xover point / otoh, maybe not .

Personally, I'd rather see FR that's flat down to 400hz so that I can choose how to mess round with the rolloff, via caps & coils .

How come you just don't settle for the more common small format drivers and a either a 511 or 811 horn? I've seen these in small auditoriums. These drivers are more than adequate for a home or even a decent sized room.

Hey John $1197 is actually cheap for a pair of 311-90's all the pairs I have seen usually sell for $1400-$1800 it's always the shipping that's the killer.I figured they being in California on the west coast that the shipping is a short trip over the big pond and for a few hundred, maybe doable.

That is pretty funny But the I still like Paul Hogan's commercial on US television, "put another shrimp on the barbie."

Sorry, yes, I did forgot about the that little part the enhancing the sound of a La Scala. The La Scala mid K91 horn & driver was supposed to have been the "tour de force" of Klipsch R&D engineering.

A 300Hz horn is going to be real imposing in any home room. I guess you will just have to "seek and ye shall find(that is a bit of out of context, but I think you will get the meaning)" and maybe keep your eyes open and maybe a pair will turn up somewhere. But that shipping is going to be deal breaker.

BTW(by the way): I had a chance to meet Paul Klipsch years ago when he was still alive at the AES convention in Los Angeles. I put my hands on one of their Belle Klipschs just feel the mirror smoothness of the finish. This one was walnut. Then Mrs Klispch came along right away and wiped it down.
